A look I did on my lunch break from a Corporate job a decade ago carries on until today all over the web. When I was "younger", I guess you can say I was a little more daring with my makeup. Bright colors, glitters, lashes on the daily! As I got older, I have toned down my makeup a lot. However, every time I come across this picture, I am inspired all over again and truly miss those days! I decided to re-create this look because it really is an iconic look in my beauty history that I am always recognized and remembered by. However, since this was a decade ago, a lot of products have discontinued, so I have listed replacements!
The first question everyone always has is, What green eyeshadow is that?! LimeCrime had just launched their brand with a line of lipsticks particularly one shade called CosmoPop (I don't know if this one still exists) and so I fell in love with the brand back then and bought every product she launched at the time. This Chindadoll palette was the first in her collection to launch and I used the shade "Jade O Lade" on my lid. That green was everything! Unfortunately it is now non-existent and I haven't been able to find a green like that since! I warmed up the crease with Wedge, Cork and Brun from MAC (I remember because I used those for transitional shades for years!) topped off with black liner and lashes!
To re-create my look, I used the Mehron Earth palette in the shade Tropical Storm. It was the closest matte green that I found! It is not exact, but it works to get the look I was looking for!
For my lips, I used a shade called Peach Ice from a brand called La Femme that is as old of a brand as it could get! Naimie's Beauty Center used to carry the line, it was cheapy but quality and it would sell like hot cakes! That shade was everything! For my re-creation, I used the Anastasia lip palette vol. 1 to recreate the look with a lip gloss on top from Motives Cosmetics called Fizzle. It came pretty close if I do say so myself!
It's crazy when you remember the makeup and the products you did ages ago...that's when you know you LOVE makeup! I eat, sleep, drink - makeup.
So excited to announce, the ElcieCosmetics Hydra Enhancer is NOW AVAILABLE on www.ElcieCosmetics.com and Naimie's Beauty Center! Introducing an innovative hydrating and setting mist that balances the complexion, sets makeup and refreshes the skin! This alkaline facial water is an antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals. It has smaller molecules than tap water, so it absorbs more easily into your skin giving you maximum hydration with a quicker effect, while holding your makeup in place all day.
Our bodies naturally have a PH balance of 7 and what we consume throughout the day may throw off our PH balance from a 1 (most acidic) to 14 (maximum alkaline). When our body is more hydrated, so is our skin! However, we do not all drink as much water as we should and when we do, its not always a PH balanced water or even alkaline! In fact, most water we drink is very acidic - almost as equivalent to coffee! How crazy that? Alkaline water has much smaller molecules than tap water which means it absorbs your into your skin quicker hydrating your skin 10 times quicker.
I decided to create an alkaline based facial mist that not only hydrates and refreshes your skin but prolongs your makeup for an all days wear. Infused with Jasmine essential oil for a refreshing scent but no artificial perfumes to irritate your skin! Spray it on bare face, use to set your makeup or spray on throughout the day to refresh your makeup. Hope you love it as much as I do - would love to hear your thoughts! <3
First thing I want to say that I love this brand. I love the owner, Christina and how passionate she is about her products. If you are not following her on Snap you should be! She is always doing giveaways ;) I've been an avid follower of her snap because I just love her, her tips and all the sneak peaks! So before she launched the Skinny Dip Collection, she was showing us her inspiration for the entire collection and her mood board, which was all inspired by St. Tropez! I was in love before I knew what it was lol. And of course when I actually did see the products leaked by the influencers who went to St. Tropez with her, I was dying. The Skinny Dip Collection looked like something I just wanted to eat. BUT what did I think when I actually opened my package? Keep reading...
Lip Toppers & Cremes
You should know that Jouer was one of the first brands to create lip toppers in todays market and I have to say, she nailed it - from the textures to the colors. The lip topper in shade Skinny Dip is of course my favorite and one I almost always use on my brides. On my brides, I try not to use too much gloss because it can get sticky and get in the way. The lip toppers feel like nothing on your lips and add the perfect highlight! Here is a swatch of the 3 lip toppers and the new lip creme.
Next up are the 2 highlighters launched in Skinny Dip & Tan Lines. They are super buttery and creamy! I am obsessed with Skinny Dip highlighter myself because I am lighter in skin tone. If you are in the tan to darker skin tone, the Tan Lines will make your skin look like its just wet - ugh, so beautiful! I have swatched them for your reference below:
Ok, so I have saved the best for last: the Skinny Dip eyeshadow collection! This palette is EVERYTHING. I am not even messing with you. All the tones in shimmer you will ever need (unless you're a blue and green kind of girl)...but honestly, I am going to devour this on myself and my brides. They feel like they could be pressed pigments; the texture is soft and super pigmented. I know I use the word "obsessed" a lot, but - I am obsessed! *crying emoji face*
Congratulations Jouer on such an Amazing launch!
Luminizing moisturizers & primers, highlighters, shimmering bronzers and no powder makeup is gorgeous for summer! But if your oily, the outcome of that technique will look far from attractive. Instead, you will look greasy, muddy and your makeup will NOT last! However if you prep & set with the following essentials - your skin will not only be perfect for the summer but will look flawless all day!
I am so excited to announce that I've launched my first youtube tutorial! I mean, its not my first - as I've been posting work I've done on my clients. But this one is more in depth as I explain the process of some of my most recognized works. Starting with my signature cat-eye smokey and the reason the Elcie Minimalist eyeshadow was born! I show you how to create my favorite technique with my oh so favorite eyeshadow! It was only fair I started with my own products ;) I will be posting many videos and cannot wait to connect with you guys on a whole new platform! Click the video below to watch and scroll down to see a breakdown of the products I used. AND of course, please like, subscribe and comment! Thank you!!!
I am so excited to announce that The Minimalist palette is now LIVE and available to purchase at www.ElcieCosmetics.com! This palette took me almost a year to develop! Each shade, Pigment, texture is customized and top knotch qualify! This palette is the Holy Grail - and all you need as an artist or a consumer. The palette is retailing for $45 and will be sold online and at Naimies Beauty Store in Sherman Oaks. It includes 5 shades, 3 of which are big pans. The 3 big pans can be used as contour highlight and blush as well. I hope you guys love this palette as much as I do!
Grammy's 2017 - what a show! From Beyonce's amazing performance (pregnant!) to Adele winning 5 Grammy's (well deserved!). Glam was on another level this year. To be honest, when I used to watch years ago, I would always wonder "WHO is doing their makeup??" and not with a positive connotation. Of course this was before social media and you never really knew who was doing their makeup unless you were in the industry or if it was mentioned in a blog/article. Red carpet glam then, was very different from the red carpet glam today. It was either non-existent or dramatic - but neither pretty. Now, red carpet makeup has aligned with social media makeup - true GLAM! This years beauties were all about the metallics! Shimmering eyes with nude or red lips - ideal red carpet makeup with an extra umph!
Now lets get to the point of this blog: what makes red carpet - glam? What do red carpet celebrities do that us average women don't do? I mean, besides having the best of the best on their team to glam them up, here is some extra info that will put you on that red carpet level:
1. Diet - not just losing weight but detox cleanses, healthy eating and specific habits for about a month. Helps get their body in shape & skin looking great!
2. Spray tanning - bigger than ever! There is definitely more organic versions for those of you who are against this (google the place nearest you). It hides away any skin imperfections, makes your skin look smoother and give you the healthy glow.
3. Skin glow - body oils, shimmers and bronzers are KEY. They may be much to the naked eye, but on the red carpet - you skin is perfection.
4. Syringes - I don't want to have to put this part in here because I don't want to imply that this is something you MUST do in order to look red-carpet glam. But botox and fillers are very common for celebrities right before a red-carpet event, especially one like the Grammy's.
5. Extensions - almost always extensions are used for either length or fullness on these special days. The second the hair goes in - bam! Instant glam.
6. Glow Facials - Facials called Oxygen, Collagen, Red Carpet and similar. These facials give you that radiance you need without any intensive procedures. You need to do this a few days before the event.
So next time you have a special event, try a tip or 2 from the list above. Most importantly, don't take any risks and do something you've never done. Don't TEST on a special day, know exactly what to expect. And if you don't do any of the above and you look and feel confident, then kudos to you! You're 5 steps ahead of anybody else.
I just checked the date on my last post and its over 2 months ago...where have I been?! I miss writing to you all and sharing stories and exciting new info. As you've noticed, I have re-launched my Online Workshop once again! After debating my time and availability, I knew I had to figure out a way to bring it back! So after many requests, I am back and its better than ever! I hope you guys are loving it. That along with working with clients and the Elcie business...leaves me very little play room.
Also, in the last 3 months, Katherine has been a little more...well, a LOT more active! I used to be able to sit her on my lap and type away and now she wants to type with me and you get the point lol. BUT no more excuses! One of my New Years resolutions is to be a little more active on my social media outlets. Im pretty active on Snapchat but if you follow me, you know its all Kat and no work lol. But its social media that brought us together and its social media that continues to support me and I am making it a goal to deliver more in the upcoming year.
The reason I wanted to write this blog post before the New Year was to say Thank YOU! Thank you for all you continue to do for me. This year has been overwhelmingly positive with all your love and support. Kat coming into my life has been such a big change and the gifts, cards and messages has been beyond me. I love that I can tell her this story when shes a grown woman one day.
I say New Year, Old Me because its you that has kept me grounded throughout the years. It is you that has made me who I am today and it is you that has given me the career that I have today. I can never and will never change, because of you. I will continue to strive, because of you. I will always be Me, because of you. I will never take for granted for what I have and where I am today, because it is you that has helped me get there. I know anybody can say these same words to show their appreciation; but I hope that you've seen it yourself. I hope that throughout the years of your following me, you've watched me stay true to you. I am ever so grateful that I don't even have the words to express.
I am wishing you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that each and every one of you get all that you dream for in the upcoming year. Don't ever underestimate yourself, don't ever doubt yourself and always believe in yourself. These 3 things are crucial into getting what you want from life. What you put out into the universe you will receive 10-fold. Don't get distracted, stay focused and never, ever, give up. I love you all to my core.
